This is why, from the very beginning, Expo has been a nominating literary journal. Every year we recognize our strongest published works by submitting them for consideration for a variety of prestigious literary awards and anthologies. We are proud to present our nominees from our “Orbit” issue.
How did this year go by so fast? As we wind down the end of our submission season, we’ve had time to reflect on our achievements as well as other amazing literary organizations that support writers, artists, youth, and our whole community. For our 2018 Short Play Series, we gathered at the Skiptown Playhouse in Hollywood for a staged reading of four pieces—three stageplays and one screenplay—from Exposition Review Vol. III: “Orbit.” We were proud to showcase a group of talented Los Angeles directors and the actors they cast, and to see their interpretations of the published scripts unfold on the stage.
Exposition Review is excited to announce the theme for our fourth annual issue: Wonder.
Submissions will be open from September 15 – December 15, 2018. We accept work in all forms: fiction, nonfiction, poetry, scripts for stage & screen, experimental narratives, visual art, and comics.

Our latest round of Flash 405 was one for the record books! When “Nature” closed for submissions, Exposition Review editor Brianna J.L. Smyk had the daunting task of selecting just a few “vibrant pieces that dissect all the meanings of nature” from our largest entry pool yet.

Exposition Review is pleased to announce the next round of winners of Flash 405! Our April 2018 contest was judged by nationally recognized poet Edwin Bodney, who proposed the theme “Magnetism.” In doing so, he called for writers to explore how “the idea of being magnetized by known and unknown forces leaves an entire field for the many versions of ourselves to live in.”
We found ourselves attracted to many of the entries submitted, but a few stood out about the rest for their inherent tension and beautiful delivery. Read on to discover these powerful pieces for yourself!
