Expo Recommends: Nonfiction

ExpoRecommends_What-should-I-read-next

What should I read next? It’s a question we all ask ourselves time and again. Even with the countless essays, novels, screenplays, poems, and transmedia pieces to discover, to fall in love with or to detest, it can be a challenge to choose. Enter Expo Recommends, a curated selection of readings brought to you by the editors of Exposition Review.

At Expo, we don’t play favorites with genre, but we do love a good nonfiction fix. Whether it’s memoir or personal essay, travel narratives, flash, or comics, stage or screen, we love this genre in all its forms. Read a few favorites from our editors, and then submit your own nonfiction to our 2019 annual issue, “Wonder.” Might we also recommend you buy your copies of the books from our Bookshop? When you do, Expo will receive a 10% commission.

Expo’s 2018 Literary Prize Nominations

Expo2018LitNominations3

As we read submissions for our “Orbit” issue, it’s natural that we judge any new piece against those from our previous issue. Vol. II: “Surface” was our strongest issue yet, and we were proud to share such a diverse collection of powerful, unique narratives in multiple and even hybrid genres. A few of those pieces, however, shined exceptionally bright, and we now recognize those works by putting them forward for consideration for several prestigious literary prizes.

What should I read write next? It’s a question we all ask ourselves time and again, especially during submissions season! As any writer knows, one of the best ways to ensure your work gets published is to submit it to the right publication. Narrowing down these exceptional submissions was no easy feat, but after much deliberation, we can now reveal the winners of Flash 405, June 2017!
