The Best Small Fictions

The Best Small Fictions is the first-ever contemporary anthology dedicated solely to anthologizing the best internationally published short hybrid fiction in a given calendar year. The Best Microfiction anthology series, coedited by award-winning microfiction writer/editor Meg Pokrass and Flannery O’Connor Prize-winning author Gary Fincke, recognizes outstanding literary stories of 400 words or fewer. We nominated our flash fiction section from our “Flux” issue:

Rings by Carolyn Oliver

Nina Riggs Poetry Award

Each year, Cave Wall awards at least one poet for the finest writing that examines relationships, family, or domestic life in order to honor poet Nina Riggs, author of The Bright Hour and Lucky Lucky. Because poems published in journals and books during the previous three years are eligible for The Nina Riggs Poetry Award, we dove into some back issues and revisited a few favorites. Our 2022 poetry nominees are:

worthy to be sung by Levi Bentley
Ballet Is Never Enough by Lynda V. E. Crawford
Panacea by Jacob Fowler
.233 Remington by luna rey hall
