Flash 405, June 2025: “Illumination” Winners

Our June contest “Illumination” was a bright spot for Flash 405, with the brilliant Melissa Llanes Brownlee as our guest judge. With a record number of submissions, we are pleased to finally share our winners! As you will discover, each of these stories “shine with creative light,” exploring the dark and light sides of hope, truth, and illumination.

Read on to discover them for yourself!

Judge’s Comments:

“When I received the finalist list, I was intrigued to see how each writer would interpret my theme. From epiphanies, to the masters, to the light of the sun, to the light of the moon, illumination in all its varied forms and possibilities were on display. It was an honor to be a witness to so many brilliant truths and I am grateful for the opportunity. Congratulations to the winners and may you continue to carry your incandescence in these dark times.”

– Melissa Llanes Brownlee
