Artist’s Statement
Consolation Cakes is a series of illustrations showcasing how I processed this year of unexpected unemployment. It highlights the internal questions we ask ourselves as we figure out what our next role is. We follow our “cake girl” as she interacts with different cakes hoping she will feel a little satisfied and full. But after consumption, we still long for an internal purpose that keeps us hungry.
