Artist’s Statement
Over the past ten years, my collage practice has evolved from abstract compositions and works combining collage with found poetry toward a stronger emphasis on texture, geometry, and poetic visual storytelling. My work is inspired by poems, novels, ’80s and ’90s music, and artworks. A lot of my work uses a restrained color palette and combines vintage and contemporary imagery alongside geometric shapes for a sense of structure. This approach results in surreal compositions with figures, architectural, and nature fragments that coexist in a dreamlike, often ambiguous space. Memory and place are recurring themes throughout my practice. I am interested in how places are remembered, imagined, and reconstructed. Rather than documenting reality, I draw on nostalgia and intuition to explore emotional landscapes of memory. Viewers are invited to navigate spaces that might feel both familiar and impossible, where disparate elements blend together to suggest new possibilities.
